Hillary Clinton Thursday admitted that she is the candidate of dumb whites - no more, no less. As her campaign continues its slide into the dustbin of political also-rans, she told USA Today that she should be president because ignorant white people want her in the White House and they are the only people who really matter in this election year. In other words, she said vote for me because I'm white because the black guy from Chicago doesn't stand a chance in this racially-divided nation.
A card-carrying member of the Ku Klux Klan could made a statement any more racist or ignorant. Writes an angry Eugene Robinson in The Washington Post:
You can't blame Robinson for being pissed. Anybody with an ounce of rational thought should be mad as hell but few should be surprised. Both Clintons played the race card every chance they got and Hillary is finally letting her outright racism show. The Post's Robinson is more charitable. He writes:
Perhaps, but it is also possible that both Hillary and Bill Clinton are racists. They are good enough at the game of politics to sucker African Americans into believing they supported their causes when, as history clearly shows, the only causes the Clintons ever truly support are their own unbridled arrogance and ambition.

This is why the clints are hanging on like grim death. By hook or crooks (T.S.C) they are counting on calling in all the chits and favors and will go to great lengths as they have been proven to do to gain the power they deem a birth rite.
They are beyond racism and quickly approaching the genocide of our liberties which is hillies and billies bent.

The fact that politicians
Submitted by egc_iowa on May 9, 2008 - 9:41am.The fact that politicians need to appeal to the ignorant populace demonstrates the fundamental flaw of Democracy: everybody gets a vote, even those who are incompetent.
Churchill was probably correct, that every other form of government is worse, so we're left with trying to fix the form of government we have.
The only path, then, is the eradication of the ignorant and incompetent. That's why education is the silver bullet.

What pious hypocrites Obama's supporters are.

Yeah you can copy and paste the press that's been in the tank for Obama with their utter, feigned disbelief.

Submitted by Don Quixote and... on May 9, 2008 - 11:09pm.AAhhhh...very interesting. Here lay down on the couch my dear. Do you hear voices? Sorry. Your analogy of Senator Clinton's underpinings of trying to appeal to the lunch pail crowd that carry their Grand Wizard hats in them, is off the mark. You see, Senator Obama was talking to a crowd of (Say it...) Caucasian people about a different demographic of (Say it again....) Caucasian people. Did you know that Senator Obama is (ummmm....)African?(well..really he is mulatto)That is somewhat different from Senator Clinton (who is white) saying to what she selectively is addressing to a white audience that.."Hey, I'm the only democrat running that can appeal to racist white democrats!" Given that the democratic party is an all inclusive umbrella of everyone (was that close to the mantra) one would think that there are not too many racist white democrats in the party...not enough anyway to pander to. Maybe that is the problem. Bill and Hillary decided to take their hoods off because they assumed everyone was pretending like them. Guess what? NO ONE IS PRETENDING!! I guess the joke is on them. Look for Hill Billary to form a new third reich...err....party in the future for whites who feel that they should be able to complain about the status quo without having to aid the colored people in their quest for the American dream. Stay tuned folks.[As a side bar I must really thank those who are responsible for Capitol Hill Blue. You are providing a forum for which I have been scouring the internet for for over a year. Spot-on commentary Doug
Submitted by Carl Nemo on May 9, 2008 - 1:32pm.Spot-on commentary Doug Thompson concerning Hillary or both the Clintons for that matter. They are political shapeshifters that really aren't beholding to any party other than the Cecil Rhodes inspired NWO Party with it's US based, facilitating variant known as the "republicrats", now simply an AmeriKan version of the defunct Soviet "politburo"...!
White's, blacks, Asians, even Martians if that would be possible are fair game to these two pol scamsters both on the make and the take since their entrance into criminally slanted, Arky politics in the 80's.
"Among whites without college degrees, Clinton outdid Obama by 64 percent to 35 percent in Indiana, and 71 percent to 26 percent in North Carolina. The New York senator and her surrogates have trumpeted that advantage, hoping to persuade the so-called superdelegates likely to decide the race will that she would be the stronger Democratic candidate in the general election."...extract from Yahoo News

The people in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are tragic souls indeed regardless of their educational background or mental acumen because little do they realize that their collective infatuation with "Shillary" is the reason they are suffering massive unemployment throughout the "rustbelt" with many if not most small cities and towns virtually crumbling in decay. It doesn't matter if they are making steel or are IT engineers, the Clintons are selling them out for just a few bucks, euros, rupees or yuan more...!
These will probably be the same lower and no doubt many upper class white racists that will bolt and run to vote for John McPain; ie., Mr. 100 years in Iraq who hasn't had a creative thought in his lifetime except for "what's in it for me" ...!
People truly end up getting the government they deserve and even worse in some cases to paraphrase Jefferson.

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

I honestly don't know a lot of black people so I can't speak for them, but I can tell you those views are PREVALENT among poor, uneducated white people in south central Pennsylvania which also happens to harbor an incredibly racist white population. Harsh, but true. Its a rare day when I don't hear "the N-word".

And every time I hear those words, I hear the music of Bruce Springsteen in the background. Obama is not speaking ABOUT or OVER these people, he is speaking TO them.
He's speaking to the same people that Bruce speaks to when he sings "Born In The USA", or when Mellencamp sings "Blood On The Plow".
In effect he is trying to reach out to them, saying that he hasn't forgotten them and he is addressing their bitterness in an attempt to get them out of their comfort zone.
Guns, religion, antipathy, and anti-immigrant sentiment are all multi-faceted issues and as much as some folks might like to reduce them to their cardboard outer appearances, they are:
Guns: Home and personal defense or criminal weaponry
Religion: faith and worship or emptyheaded zealotry
Antipathy: Ethnic cohesiveness and unity or the mindless xenophobia of ignorance
Anti-immigrant sentiment: Knee-jerk racist reactionary thinking or focused anger against a broken system and double standard that rewards lawbreakers and slaps the face of law abiding legal immigrants and citizens alike in the same blow
It's up to YOU to decide which angle is the valid one,
and which angle he is addressing; he may be addressing both.
It is up to the people to decide which angle is the one that they should support and cling to.

As a former Hillary Clinton
Submitted by bonewoman on May 9, 2008 - 6:12pm.As a former Hillary Clinton supporter, I guess I’ll weigh in here. I actually had great respect for her. She is intelligent, articulate, engaging, personable, and resilient. All of those things are commendable and make for a good candidate. I thought that those who claimed that she was just in it for herself were wrong and that she was committed to what is best for this country. Now, I am not quite so sure of this.
From the start, I also liked Barack Obama. He is intelligent, articulate, cool and collected, has good judgment, and most important of all – he is thoughtful about what he says.
The media hype over the Rev Wright, Ayers, and the “bitter” comments are being made primarily because there needs to be controversy in order for anything to show well on tv and because those who hype them are slaves to corporate interests. Talking heads need controversy so that people will keep watching and talking about them (Limbaugh, Matthews, Hannity, O’Reilly, et. al. – because for them, it really is about them, not what is best for this country).
Obama is correct in his assessments regarding bitterness. Many people have reason to feel betrayed. And, when people know that they have reason to feel betrayed, they do get bitter, and they do tend to cling to the familiar and secure. As they struggle, the reason for their job loss is no longer that the company chose to outsource, but that someone else took their job away from them. They allow themselves to be hoodwinked by corporate mouthpieces (Limbaugh, O’Reilly, et.al.) and no longer vote their own interests. Monied interests have used these tactics to pit working people against each other for well over one hundred years. Divert people with false issues like gay marriage, tell them that immigrants are taking their jobs and you don't have to be afraid that they will come after you. You sit back and watch the mayhem, but that lolly keeps rolling in.
I came to the conclusion that Hillary Clinton was only interested in her personal destiny, not that of the nation, when she started campaigning for John McCain - "I have experience, John McCain has experience....". Her disreputable and characterless response to a question regarding Obama and whether or not he was a Muslim was another key for me that she was not the woman of character that I wanted to believe she was. I lost even more respect for her after her remarks about obliterating Iran.
This does not mean I would not vote for her if she were the party candidate, I would since she would be a much better president than McCain – but with great disappointment that she was the one. Of the three candidates up for offer, the only one who is worthy of note is Obama. He has not pandered to the religious right, nor has he abandoned his message of economic and social justice. He has done a good job of organizing his campaign and fundraising. He has said that he would reinstate habeas corpus, close Guantanamo, and stop spying on Americans. It is my hope that he will go even further in repudiating the Bush regime and all its policies. He is thoughtful where foreign policy is concerned and that is precisely what we need - a president who will think. Furthermore, he has been conciliatory and respectful of both Clinton and McCain without abandoning his own message.
Those who claim to be Democrats and can find something to support in John McCain’s message are kidding themselves that they were democrats to start with. If you support continuation of tax policies favoring the wealthy; corruption where government contracts are concerned; war profiteering; abandonment of women’s rights, human rights and civil liberties; decay of our national infrastructure; destruction of the separation between church and state; refusal to support the needs of veterans; an overreaching executive; supreme court justices that are aligned with business interests and right wing ideologues; then vote for Mr. McCain, but don’t call yourself a democrat. If personal pique because your candidate lost, allows you to do this, you weren’t much of a democrat to start with.
Most eloquent. However, if

How much longer are we going to allow the bankrupt and fraudulent "system" continue by picking the lesser of two evils?
We are doomed. Voting out the miscreants and voting in good people would take decades and that is only if people are aware and involved. But they are not. They are watching American Idol and VOTING.
The rice bowls are still full. The rent is still paid. The bed is still warm. All is right with the world.

Of Hillary Clinton, nobody
Submitted by knockknock on May 9, 2008 - 6:17pm.Of Hillary Clinton, nobody can say she's not a great actress. She's the best I've seen since Katharine Hepburn left us. Hillary can play to any audience and tell them just what they want. Hillary can memorize any script and play the heck out of it. She's very, very good.
And she's the best in the world at keeping her name in the forefront of the news. Even Britney Spears isn't that good.
Thing is, Hillary's not what this country needs. She tried her health plan and it was a big flop. She's hoping nobody remembers that.
Aside from Obama's unarguable rock star appeal, he seems to be a decent man who tells the truth, whether it's what the audience wants to hear or not. That takes guts. He also writes his own speeches (mostly) which is extremely unusual these days.
I don't know what the opposite of "pander" is, but whatever the word is, it's what Obama does.
