This absolutely abominable that GWB wants to spend more money on his crime-wave against the middle east while Americans are having to sell their prized possessions just to buy gas or put food on the table!

Anti-war Democrats are frustrated at their inability to force the president to scale back war operations and hate to vote to keep the Iraq war going. At the same time, Bush has promised to veto the war funding bill if Democrats add money for domestic programs and present him with a bill over his request.

Election year politics and

Election year politics and posturing, all for public consumption. Most Senate Democrats are pro-war in reality and will use any viable excuse to continue funding it while publicly portraying themselves as anti-war. It's all about the White house right now, as well as gaining a super majority in Congress this fall.

So if the Democrats were truly anti-war, they would litter this bill with pork and call his bluff. But they won't. They've had two years of chances, and it's always the same story. Rather, they'll do as the President asks and then whine about their powerlessness to do anything. The Big Bad President has outmaneuvered them once again.

Remember who took impeachment off the table. I'm no Bush supporter, but to place the blame solely at Bush's feet and give the Congress a free pass is disingenuous.

Sadly, regardless of the theatrics, you indeed are correct. All of this being played out at the expense of the American people is the real crime, and as usual both parties are more than happy to perpetuate the insanity.
