Web Capitol Hill Blue

April 21, 2008 - 5:22am.

Starting today, Pollchecker takes over as moderator of the blogs on Capitol Hill Blue. Her willingness to take on this job is much appreciated by your overtaxed and overburdened publisher.

Her job will be to try and bring some order to the chaos. We've noticed that some bloggers seem obvious to the few, but necessary rules that we have set down here for blogging on Blue. For example:

--Reference your material with links;

--Don't reprint copyrighted material without permission. Use an excerpt to that material and then link to the full article;

--Don't write headlines in all capital letters. It's hard to read and causes problems with search engines;

--Our headline style is to capitalize the first letter of the first word and the rest in lower case (expect for proper names or words that require capitalization);

--Watch your spelling. We spend a lot of time fixing misspelled words in headlines and posts;

--Don't post long links that cause formatting problems with the page. Put those links in an "Link description" tag. If you don't know how to do that, click on the "enable rich-text" link under this form box and use the WYSIWYG editor to insert links.

I'll let pollchecker introduce herself to the masses here. Please welcome her, cooperate with her, and behave. It will make all our lives much easier.

--Doug

Thanks everyone. I would

Thanks everyone. I would just like to add that when I started blogging here, it took me a little while to get a handle on the links formatting. I encourage everyone to review the formatting options by clicking on the "More Information about formatting options" at the link at the bottom of the page. It really helped me out! (ggggg)

Capitol Hill Blue's columnists, blogs and reader comments

Capitol Hill Blue is an independent, non-partisan news site that belongs to no political party and subscribes to no political or philosophical point-of-view. Our columnists are welcome to their opinions but readers should understand that their views do not necessarily reflect the editorial policies of this web site. We also welcome comments to selected opinion columns and in our popular ReaderRant discussion forum. Please remember, however, that we believe in civility on this web site and comments may be reviewed, moderated or removed if we feel they contain obscenities, racism, bigotry, anti-Semitic remarks or attack other posters. Our goal is reasoned discussion on issues facing this nation and we do not feel that goal is served by personal attacks and by seeing how many cute adjectives you can attach to an elected official or politician's name.
