When I wrote my column "Does Hillary have a Monica motor driving her to be the boss of Bill? (LINK) on January 28 I decided to support Barak Obama. That was before Super Tuesday when he became her most formidable competition. A few commentors took me to task for suggesting Hillary's intense drive to "be the boss of Bill" stemmed in part for wanting to exact the ultimate revenge for her husband's affairs. In response to these criticisms I wrote, in part:
Now political analysts are predicting, based on the numbers, that there is a 5% chance or less that Hillary can win the nomination. This is from New York Times OpEd columnist David Brooks (who also discusses "what she’s going to put her party through for the sake of that 5 percent chance") writes:
Hillary, seemingly having traded sensible everyday shoes for combat boots, is digging in those heavy heels and refusing to exit gracefully, is no longer merely "the bitch". She is indeed more like The Terminator (that's what, according to Maureen Dowd, a former aide calls her); except that we all knew that The Terminator had a pretty damn good chance of winning. I just saw Bill on the news addressing a group telling them first "we need to win this thing" with body language looking to me like he meant Hillary and I need to win this thing. He then changed his body language and repeated the phrase in a way that appeared to mean "Hillary and all of you need to win this thing". This is what Hillary is contending with. She has a husband who still wants to dominate her. He doesn't want HER to win, he wants TO WIN as he always has. For him, this is the meaning of we. Like when he was in the Oval Office, he wants to play with his cigar and smoke it too. Hillary knows that only by becoming the Lord of the Oval Office herself can she have the ultimate revenge against Bill. Only as president herself can she tell him, literally or figuratively, to take a hike. I do not believe she ever forgave him. I think she has been biding her time to turn the tables on him all along, positioning herself for a run for the presidency. I see no signs that convince me she has put the blue dress and all it means behind her. Now everyone is reminded of this.
I am saying Hillary Clinton is nothing more or less than human. As nasty a reference as this is, as a reminder of the worst of Bill's serial infidelities, it will probably further stimulate Hillary's need to get even. She is no longer thinking rationally because if she was she would realize that she is no longer acting in the best interest of the country. As long as she continues to be a surrogate for John McCain she increases the chances he will be the next president.

She is no longer thinking
Submitted by pollchecker on March 25, 2008 - 8:52am.Interesting, Hal. I was just recently thinking the same thing. (ggg)
BTW, I don't usually agree with this guy, so it's kinda scary when he reaches the same conclusions that most people around here seem to agree on.
By jove, maybe there really are some areas in politics that we all can agree on (wink). Check this out:

Two great pieces, Hal.
Submitted by DejaVuAllOver on March 26, 2008 - 3:30pm.Two great pieces, Hal. Don't turn into a whimp or a coward, though, like so many liberals these days. We Democrats love to Bush-bash, and the scumbag certainly deserves that and much worse. But these days, the cowardly Democrats are even worse. Not only are so many violent, arrogant, condescending, elitist, manipulative, lying and selfish, they're cowards, as well. Queen Hillary is the poster-child for everything that is wrong with the Party of Losers. And watching her feign offense at Wright or some other truth-teller just makes her look even more cowardly, evasive and dishonest.
Gandhi said, "Wisdom without courage, is worthless." He wasn't speaking of Democrats, but he could have been.

Not only has "Hillary's
Submitted by Bluesman2007 on March 27, 2008 - 9:10pm.Not only has "Hillary's intense drive to "be the boss of Bill" stemmed in part for wanting to exact the ultimate revenge for her husband's affairs" but Bill's stumping for her as adroitly has he has is, I'm certain, part of her perceived payback. It's her pound of flesh. In the end, I don't think it will matter much because every time they dip into "politics as usual" as their approach to this campaign, the more they sink her chances which, statistically, are non-existent anyway. We can't take her word for anything any more than we can take Bill's after he flat out lied to the American public about Lewinsky. So who do you trust? Three guesses but his name starts with "O". I wouldn't trust either one of them to babysit a parakeet.
Armchair analysis. I suppose
Submitted by sherry on March 31, 2008 - 3:58pm.Armchair analysis. I suppose it can't be helped. I find myself disecting Obama and his need for Wright in his life. It's interesting he chose to take the name of his elusive biological father as opposed to his mother's maiden name which he used while in high school.
That said, I don't believe Hill's continued pursuit of POTUS is hurting the party. It was pretty much toast anyway.
I believe McCain will be our next president and though I am not happy about it, no party has the ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like the democrats. Sad really.
I just wish this was over. No matter who gets in, nothing will change. Nothing.
That is the worst of all. Same political whores. Different name.
Sadly, Sherry, I have to
Submitted by ekaton on March 31, 2008 - 11:33pm.Sadly, Sherry, I have to agree. The democrats are self destructing as we watch. And the convention isn't until August. So if no one steps in to stop it Clinton and Obama will continue to shred both of their chances. I just cannot imagine a McCain presidency but I fear that we will not have to imagine it, we will have to live it.
