We all know that John McCain is going to be the Republican nominee. But I know there are a lot of Ron Paul supporters around here, so I thought I would share this. Sometimes, I wonder if he's trying out for the VP spot, but I just don't see that happening with John McCain.

Ron Paul keeps presidential run alive

I really like this quote and it is typical of the man.

"Though victory in the conventional political sense is not available in the presidential race, many victories have been achieved due to your hard work and enthusiasm,' he told supporters. "We must remember elections are short-term efforts, revolutions are long-term projects."

REVOLUTIONS ARE LONG TERM PROJECTS That's a very interesting statement.

The thought has occurred to me that perhaps he sees the writing on the wall and is preparing for 2012. Or maybe he want's to keep his hat in the ring to maintain a prominent spot at the convention this summer.

I have an idea....in 2010 Texas elects a New Governor as Rick Perry has reached his term limits. How about Ron Paul for Governor of Texas? It sure would ben better than Kay Bailey Hutchinson (grin).

A brokered convention

A brokered convention perhaps? McCain does NOT have 1191 BOUND delegates! Victory in an unconventional sense is possible, just as Lincoln won the nomination in a brokered convention in the 1800's, so too, can someone win the nomination in a brokered convention today. Delegates elect the nominee and many delegates haven't even been chosen yet!

Are you saying if we totally

Are you saying if we totally rip apart McCain before the convention, you think Ron Paul has a chance being the last man standing?

I still think he has a much better chance at being Governor of Texas in 2010. I repeat he would be a much better choice than steal and spender Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

The nominee is always

The nominee is always selected by the delegates. People can make an uninformed vote for McCain all that they want to, but it is the delegates that will actually decide who the nominee is. If most of delegates are Ron Paul supporters, who do you think they are going to vote for? If you have any questions about the delegate process check out the dailypaul. The links will be on the right hand side.

If you are a Ron Paul supporter then I highly encourage you to inform yourself about the delegate process and then go out and become a delegate! This is essential if you are in any of the remaining primary states and may still be possible if you are in a state that has already had it's primary or caucus.

Interesting stategy. I

Interesting stategy. I would love to see it work. Best of luck. Guess there still is a glimmer of hope for his supporters.

Too bad the Dems aren't that organized. It's one of the reasons they keep losing.

I like the idea that Ron

I like the idea that Ron Paul is now actively campaigning for delegates. I am hoping that there will be enough RP delegates at the convention to influence the platform. But I cannot see how the people that put McCain in place will ever allow RP delegates to give RP nomination. Even if something happens to McCain, I do not see the "powers" allowing RP to have the nomination. On the other hand, if they can pull this off, I predict that Ron Paul will win the general election by a landslide.

Helluva lot better choice

Helluva lot better choice than Kay Bailey Hutchinson who is already indicated that she is going to run.

Otherwise, She will be elected Governor and be in the position of appointing her replacement for the next 2 years which will be none other than Rick Perry (oh my god, surprise, surprise!)

No I would vote for Ron Paul for Governor in 2010. It would be a privilege.

Then he would be in a better position next time he ran for President.

This would be wonderful.

This would be wonderful. However, where are you getting your information? I am pretty sure there is no term limit for Governor in Texas.

I live in Texas. There is a 2 term limit for Governor.

Yes I live in Texas as well. Where did you find that information? All of the information I have read says that there is no term limit. Can you please post a link where you found that there is a two term limit?
Thanks

April -- Since the first of

April -- Since the first of the year I have read several articles that discussed the Perry/Hutchinson connection, commenting on how Perry wasn't running again due to newly passed term limits.

I could have sworn we past term limits no too long ago (2002 maybe) but I can't find the link. Who knows maybe I am having a Senior moment.

I just recalled where I read

I just recalled where I read it. It was that Hutchinson has said that she was not going to run for reelection to the Senate in 2012. The gist was that if she ran for the Governor in 2010 then she could appoint Perry to fill in for her unfulfilled Senate term...or Perry could run for her seat giving him the advantage in 2012.

And Why not? The GOP is desperate to hold onto power.

I still think if we are going to change things, Dr Paul should run for Governor in Texas on the GOP in 2010. I bet he would win the primary against both Perry or Hutchinson because Dems would cross over in droves to vote for Dr Paul just like the GOP crossed over to vote for Hillary this year.

It makes perfect sense......of course this is assuming he wont be the 2008 nominee....he gets reeelected to a 2 year Congressional term in 2008, runs for governor in 2010, and then in 2012 he would have a lot more strength to run again if he so desired. Beats the hell out of the alternatives and people keep saying they want to make substantive changes. So here's one way.

Ron Paul was the biggest

Ron Paul was the biggest hype - and the biggest FLOP - in US political history; I chuckled as his microsupport % was revealed.
No one voted for him.
I doubt he will be elected to Governor in Texas either.
