I can't help it.

While it's true that Obama is far from the anointed grand pooh-bah just yet, I think that if he wins even half of the races remaining to run, he will be well and away to his first Presidential race.

The fact that the man's politics, as well as those of the party that he's a member of, represent nothing good in my mind what so ever aside, I can't help it.

Every time that I see another headline, or read another article about how the country is basically rejecting the notion of another era of the Clintonistas and their tripe (err..or is that troupe?) in the white house...I can't help it.

I keep hearing a song from the wizard of Oz. You know the one..."Ding dong, the witch is dead, etc..."

Now if the country will just wake up and vote for as many independent candidates as possible...but alas I wax wistful...

mterry, I'm with you on this

mterry, I'm with you on this one. Which Independents do you think will make it on the November ballot? Bloomberg?

Much like Thompson,

Much like Thompson, Bloomberg is awash in poor judgment. As always, timing is everything. Neither has it. Unfortunately, it will be 2010 before independents have really awakened, but things might work out if we can hold on that long.

I don't know Ms. Price. Hard to say really. Unfortunately, Ron Paul seems to be determined to run as a Republican. Kinda like tying yourself to a sinking ship if you ask me.

I could see him being a serious thorn for everyone if he'd just announce that he's running as an independent.

I'll bet the the main stream media ignores pretty much any of them that are trying to get there though.

It makes me so frustrated to watch the silly buggers and their "Hillary-vs.-Obama" fetish simply ignore not rest of the world around them. Including what is currently happening in the whitehouse.

Why (I ask again, and again...) are they ignoring that sneaky SOB Cheney, and his ass puppet Bush?

Are they really SO enamored of the verbal masturbation of the two current top globalist candidates from the Democratic party, that they're willing to ignore (to our own peril)the swan song of the worst two examples of "a waste of flesh" to have occupied 1600 Penn Ave yet?

I wonder if this isn't the calm before the storm. I forget the exact filing numbers, but Bush put an executive order(s) in place that basically makes him dictator, and suspends the Constitution. Somehow I'm betting that little beauty will not simply remain an unused bit of paranoia as November draws near.

Personally, I'm looking forward to my first Presidential vote as an honest to goodness CITIZEN of a free republic. This will be such a meaningful thing to me personally, I can't begin to express the joy of voting as a citizen that has rights, and NOT as a subject that enjoys privileges...

For those of you born here, treasure what you've got and nurture it through participation. If not we'll all lose.

Thanks. I would say that

Thanks. I would say that you're very right. The "series of friendly questions" at INS were some of the most grueling, and aggressive "interviews" that I've ever been through. Worth it in the end, but WOW.

That being said, I find it a sad commentary on the educational system here, that an immigrant of average education in a foreign country knows more about U.S. civics and law than a good many graduates of some of this county's best schools.

Why don't they teach a serious course in honest to goodness civics any more?

I've spoken with a good many teachers (past and present) that all say they "used to" teach civics, but the school systems seem to have done away with the notions that are engendered by such courses, by getting rid of the courses.

Not to be too critical here, but if an immigrant is REQUIRED to have a reasonably in depth grasp of this knowledge, WHY are students being effectively (and perhaps willfully) mis-educated?

I see these undereducated

I see these undereducated kids every day. They land in my Adult Trades classes and can't do simple fractions, read for comprehension,or possess mechanical and critical thinking skills.Sure they have a diploma but it's in political correctness and feel good bullshit. Most are indignant when corrected and are so fearful of testing that they completely shut down. From the white kids with multiple piercings, tattoos and an attitude ,to the minorities dressed in baggy gangsta style and exuding an air of entitlement are incredulous protests when I tell them I wouldn't hire one of them to dig a hole for me.When I tell them I can't understand their speech because they've got a pound of metal jammed through their tongue or I point out that their baggy clothes and tennis shoes will get wrapped up in the machinery or worse catch fire from welding sparks they think I'm nuts. There is no reality taught in the grade schools anymore.History and civics take a back seat to sex education and social skills. Of the latter I've seen little evidence it sinks in.I could take a hammer and smash every f#*kin cell phone in the world.Texting in class or openly answering and carrying on a conversation is the norm with these misfits. There is no discipline taught because people like Hilly and the liberal nit wits say we don't want to bruise their fragile little egos.Need I say more?

I would like to say, I fully

I would like to say, I fully agree, and that I'll bring TWO hammers (one for each hand) so the job can be done all the quicker.

I live across the street from both a junior high school, and a high school...both are little more than daytime clubs for the misbegotten social outcasts of area to practice their hooliganisms on one another before going "live" out in the world.

There ARE some truly honest and hardworking students there. They are both a joy to see (and rare) and an agony to watch as they are either beat into submission by the roving gangs of pushers and pimps, or through peer pressure become "one of the fold".

Their behavior over the last few years has become so outrageous and unacceptable (aided and abetted by the liberal feel good bullshit you mentioned) that the complex that I live in has had to hire armed guards to patrol at night, (a possible whole blog article on the balance between community defense and 4th amendment rights there...) just to "try" and stem some of the stupidities that go on after dark.

Police presence is also a "day to day" fact here, as the crime rate soars with the worsening local economy. I'd move out if I could, and leave them to their ever downward spiral of self destructiveness...if only I could.

Believe me, society at large will be better off without the majority of these turds floating about the gene pool.
