So while this circus of political clowns is busy entertaining the nation, Who's looking out for the Nation's business?

Rather like hoards of colorfully dressed jesters of old, they parade before us. We watch, laugh, and cry at their antics...But what, if anything is going on in this country?

The media has moved the tragedies of Afghanistan, and Iraq where our citizens continue to die in Bush's illegal and immoral war, to the side bars at best, at worst to the back pages.

As well, and admittedly it sounds rather paranoid, but who's keeping an eye on that pair of turds in the oval office? It's been said before, and in enough ways that I don't need to ask the question...but I'll ask anyway.

What are the two worst criminals (so far) to have occupied the positions of President and V.P. of this country doing in the last stretch of their parade of illegalities?

Does anyone care that the most secretive pair ever to occupy the highest office in the land, are being handed a 24ct gold opportunity to do whatever the hell they want without even so much as the smallest of notice by a jaded press?

Yes, we have to elect a new President et al. But let's not forget the rest of the Nation's business in the rush here people.

Watching the peacocks strut and "grace us" with their displays of pretty plumage doesn't get our military home, fix our out of control budget, secure our borders, or feed the hungry. To say nothing of actually running the country as the Constitutional Republic that it was designed to be.

While the press and we the entertained, watch the verbal gladiators whack away at each other, there are other candidates that are very worthy, yet go ignored, as well as a myriad of other things in life too precious to miss.

Some of them simple things too, like the sound of rain on my roof this morning. The fact that I HAVE a roof, when so many don't...real things, real issues.

We as a nation are at a distinct cross roads here, whoever becomes the next leader of this country will be setting precedents of such historic and social levels that they may never be matched again. BUT, we still need to look after the day to day as well...so that's what I'm going to do right now.

Enjoy your day everyone.

M. Terry

You have echoed my feelings

You have echoed my feelings exactly. We are a nation that mirrors Pavlovs dog. In the face of dire need everywhere, salivating for the next distraction is the mandate.Awakening will never come to this population, not even when we're all hearded up to get our foreheads tattooed.,and the gold pried from out of our teeth.Enjoy the rain, they can't control that,YET!

Brian, it reminds me more of a Shakespeare Comedy. When things get bad in a Barb's play, they bring out the cakes and ale, bring in the clowns and get the audience laughing or crying just before the curtain comes down.

Long live the police state!

My Parents admonishment that "want shall be our master" is ever more relevant when observing our national psyche.I've snapped the rubber band of morality on my wrist so often it's raised a welt and I'm ashamed to seek immunity from the chaos, but can see no end to it.PMFOT's

Well said, mterry... And

Well said, mterry... And some additional thoughts. In order for us to make it to the finish line in January, 2009, we need to keep up the drumbeat about the high crimes and misdemeanors of the current White House perps. And that entails beating on the doors of our Congressional leadership to hold them accountable and not let more of this administration's deceits and deceptions seep into law and public policy.

I make no bones about having a litmus test for candidates:

1. If they voted for the war in Iraq, they don't get my vote.

2. If they voted for the Patriot Act and all of its other iterations, they don't get my vote.

3. If they vote FOR the current version that includes amnesty for the telcos that unlawfully provided intercepts to the Government, I will work to see them unseated -- irrespective of their party.

4. If they vote to shield ANY corporation or lending institution from shared culpability for financial wrongdoings, then just as with the illegal wiretaps, it's time for them to go.

While the likelihood of Bush and Cheney being impeached is remote at best, it is still in the national interest to keep that issue alive. Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi would do well to keep in mind that they, too, serve at the pleasure of the people, and they can be replaced come November.

M. Terry, "setting precedents" is the proper phrase here, not "setting presidents". I know people hate to be corrected, but I felt it was for the greater good. Your sentence is too important to be misunderstood and overlooked as a result. No insult meant.

My name is Jan and I am a hopeless word junkie. I'll be leaving now for my 12-step program. Cheers. ;-)

You're absolutely right.

You're absolutely right. Thanks.

Excellent post, but I

Excellent post, but I believe those crossroads were traversed many years ago. Back when the Federal Reserve and the IRS were created.

Of course, then came the media. Since then society has been engineered; automated, if you will, into the hypnotized and mesmerized, medicated masses that we are today.

We are so easily controlled and manipulated by the media. We have been conditioned and propagandized to the point where honest debate is shunned in favor of shoutfests and reality TV. Where ad hominem attacks are standard fare for "debate shows" because people are too stupid to handle real debate about real issues.

We have fallen asleep at the wheel, and are careening toward the cliffs of history without so much as an airbag. Our system is a farce, our media is nothing more than social engineers, and we are literally being subliminally herded to the sacrificial altar of global fuedalism.

This election cycle has turned into a battle for the bragging rights to our demise. Like being on death row and having the privelege of choosing our own executioner.

Now, now griff... "can't never could do nothing!" as they said in my boyhood. (regarding grammar, gimme a break Jan... it's a quote.) Wake up at the wheel... and rage against the dying of the light !!!
