 As of Monday, April 16, 2007, at least 3,308 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,682 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers. The AP count is 12 higher than the Defense Department's tally, last updated Monday at 10 a.m. EDT. The British military has reported 142 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 19; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, six; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Latvia, three; Estonia, Netherlands, Thailand, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Romania, one death each. ___ The latest deaths reported by the military:

Submitted by Bill Robinson on April 17, 2007 - 7:41am.They are only bodies and the American Public is not allowed to see the coffins as they come rolling along thru Dover AFB.
Bush and Cheney do not care how many more Americans will die, and they will not care UNLESS we make them. The way to do that is to take THEIR children and put them in uniform and treat THEM like ordinary soldiers and send them to Iraq and to the front lines with the others as part of this new surge. Let them surge on that! Maybe then the two despots who are mismanaging this stupid wrong war will care (although I doubt Cheney would really give a shit about his lesbian daughter's life)--just maybe.
It's the only possibility I can think of.

Americans have alwys been fanciated with numbers and deaths. We estimate how many will die, over long weekends, from Cancer and other diseases. The American solders dying in Iraq are different, certain medias give us a name, picture and short Bio. It becomes personal, not only does it hurt the family, it hurts all of us, it is as if we knew the person, went to school with them, maybe had a Beer together. Since we are dealing with death, the number can only rise. The other numbers in death, deal with subjects that we have little control, the Iraqi number could be controled we could make it rise no more. Until that happens, we continue to see the number added, raising the total.
