Impeached, imprisoned and hung. This man has done more damage to this country and its people than any President in history.

my wonder is why is there hesitation among democrats for impeachment. they worry about diverting attention from ongoing problems. impeachment and conviction would solve a lot of our problems by getting rid of the source. If bush was a democrat, the repubs would have strung him up by now. remember the repubs had investigated Clinton for many years at a cost of nearly 100 million dollars, and had nothing but hints of sexual misconduct. they called a grand jury and asked point blank if Clinton had sex with Monica. obviously he would lie to protect his family. so they impeached him for lying in answer to a question that should never have been asked in a grand jury that should never have been called. Now they will not impeach a president that is systematically destroying our country.

6th VERMONT TOWN PASSES IMPEACHMENT RESOLUTION
Brookfield, Dummerston, Marlboro, Newfane, Putney.
Now add Brattleboro to the list of towns passing resolutions calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush.
Today was Brattleboro's annual Town & Town School District meeting and an impeachment resolution similar to the ones passed in other Vermont towns was finally introduced after debating for approximately 6 hours on all kinds of budgetary issues. You would expect people to be fried after all that but what followed was another hour and a half of intense discussion about whether or not town meeting reps should pass it. At approximately 6:20 PM, they did!
The impeachment resolution moved by Town Meeting Rep. Dora Bouboulis went as follows:
WHEREAS, Jefferson's Manual section LIII, 602, states that impeachment may be set in motion by charges transmitted from the legislature of a state; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush had intentionally misled the Congress and the public regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify a war against Iraq, in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 1001 and intentionally conspired with others to defraud the United States in connection with the war against Iraq in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 1805; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush has admitted to ordering the National Security Agency to conduct electronic surveillance of American civilians without seeking warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, duly constituted by Congress in 1978, in violation of Title 50 United States Code, Section 1805; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush has conspired to commit the torture of prisoners in violation of the UN Torture Convention and the Geneva Conventions, which under Article VI of the Constitution are part of the "supreme law of the land"; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush has acted to strip Americans of their constitutional rights by ordering indefinite detention of citizens, without access to legal counsel, without charge and without opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the President of a U.S. citizen as an enemy "combatant", all in subversion of the law; and
WHEREAS, in all of this George W. Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President, subversive of constitutional government to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the State of Vermont and of the United States.
Be it resolved that George W. Bush, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States;
WHEREAS, it is the uniform practice of the U.S. House of Representatives to receive petitions or resolutions from primary assemblies of the people;
Be it resolved that George W. Bush and Richard Cheney, by such conduct, warrant impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States;
Be it resolved further by the Town of Brattleboro, that our Senators and Representative in the United States Congress be, and they are hereby, requested to cause to be instituted in the Congress of the United States proper proceedings for the investigation of the activities of the President, to the end that he may be impeached and removed from such office.
Be it resolved further, That the Clerk of the Town of Brattleboro be, and is hereby instructed to certify to the Clerk of House of Representatives, under the seal of the Town of Brattleboro, a copy of this resolution and its adoption by the Town of Brattleboro, and that this resolution be entered in the United States Congressional Journal. The copies shall be marked with the word "Petition" at the top of the document and contain the authorizing signature Town Clerk.
WHEW!
To be honest, there's just so much to say. Just incredible sharing from the heart by many, some even claiming it was the best town meeting they've ever been too.
However, there was a major concern and that was that many felt the language in the resolution sounded too inflammatory and/or lacked true evidence. Some even felt that Town Meeting was not the appropriate time and place to bring it up remarking that, "town meeting reps are elected to pass/reject budget appropriations, etc. NOT impeachment resolutions.
The Moderator did allow comments from the gallery and one mentioned rather eloquently that "this was the right time and place, that the Town Meeting Reps. represent the concerns of their districts and this was too important to ignore."
After some heated discussion, the Town Meeting Reps. agreed to pass it, provided that they strike all the WHEREAS items from the new version. The final version was passed as follows:
Be it resolved further by the TOWN MEETING REPRESETATIVES of Brattleboro, that our Senators and Representative in the United States Congress be, and they are hereby, requested to cause to be instituted in the Congress of the United States proper proceedings for the investigation of the activities of the President, TO SEE WHETHER that he may be impeached and removed from such office.
This amended version passed unanimously and Town Meeting adjourned at 6:20 PM.
Even though there was not as much teeth in this resolution compared to the ones passed in other Vermont towns, Dora Bouboulis was very satisfied with the results.
"It was an action. It sends an action to Washington and most of all the discussion was respectful, intelligent, thoughtful and that's what Town Meeting and democracy is all about," said Bouboulis.
Add Brattleboro to the list of towns demanding accountability for the illegal and immoral actions of George W. Bush.
Who's next?

I say 'impeach', not just Bush, but the rest of the high-finance 'sparkies' that have seen fit to do whatever they will with our budget, our military, and so forth. These guys aren't even in the same zip code as public accountability,
and with the country on track to 9 trillion in debt(read 'eventual bankruptcy'), they gots some
'splainin' to doooo...then there's the ugly matter of Iraq, and the fact that most people
quietly, if under their breaths, would like to see the whole mess over and done with before
it turns into something bigger, and ends up
costing a whole lot more in lives and money than
ever previously anticipated.
I think the rest of the world is still quietly going along with america, for the most part, for the time being, but that could all change, this year, next year, or the next, but suffice it to say eventually, if left to fester, the Iraq
occupation(yes, the 'o' word), could result in some fairly negative global karma for america.
Lots of countries have problems. Sudan never makes the news, even though they've got huge problems that make Iraq look like an ice-cream-eating contest dispute, with their whole janjaweed business etc, similar to Rwanda.
The muslims in africa tolerate, aid, or abet
barbaric violence and brutality, and the only way to stop that is through talking to the leaders, the muslim church people, and have them prevail on their own people to stop killing each other.
Failing all that, the other answer is for the rest of the world to arm themselves, treat the arab countries cautiously as a source of serious
anticipated future problems, and work on things like energy diversification. The wisdom of being energy-independent of hostile, undemocratic countries should be apparent, but a lot of people don't seem to understand it. Compromising our standards and national ideals for the sake of a quick buck is unfortunately an interwoven part of our national history, but the principles
of sticking to our guns on such issues are sound and should be actively promoted in our national policies. Can Bush and company see clear to develop policies in keeping with anti-torture, mutilation, and murder standards, or has the whole oil thing now ballooned to such a point where we MUST have the stuff, at all costs, regardless of the moral standards and practices of the countries we get it from?
Then there's issues like Guantanamo, and Abu Graib, the list goes on and on around the corner...suffice it to say the whole mess is bad juju for america, and the first best change we can make is by getting Big Oil and Big Defense out of office. Thank you.

Impeachment talks will always be stalled as long as we have thoughtful persons who look beyond impeachment ...first Cheney and then Hassert ...Does anyone in their right mind think they will be any better? Can we afford to shut down our government while we go through the job of eliminating the replacements as well as Dubya?

IMO the Dems won't impeach Bush because of who would be in charge if they did...Cheney now there's a scary thought.

If bush hasn't been impeached yet, what will it take: illegal war, torture, kidnapping, spying, the murder of tens of thousands of innocent Iragi's. I guess the only thing left for grounds of impeachment is to get a blow-job from an intern.

Impeachment is a waste of time as long as the Republicans hold majorities in both houses. They have proven time and again they value party over principle. If the Democrats can regain control, then we should see the impeachment process begin the next day. Then by the time the impeachment trial begins, we will have a new Democratic Speaker of the House. Cheney gets indicted (for Plamegate, etc.), and then the new speaker is next in the succession. So don't worry about Cheney or Hastert becoming president.
Personally, I would worry more about about the Bushies declaring martial law and trying to shut down congress if the Dems regain control.

Impeach George?
Em, do we really want the Darth VP to be president?
Yikes. Any way to impeach them both at the same time, a kind of two for one deal?
