This whole port thing is a Rove Trojan horse. The demos rushed into the breach thinking they had an election issue but Warner, under Karl's orders, cut their legs out from under them. Now they are as flacid as usual. The deal also smoked out unfaithful repubs so now Karl can go to work on them with a vengeance.

Tom - you nailed it. I thought from the first second that this was a "showpiece" that the Republicans in Congress could use to show that they aren't totally in Bush's pocket.
They did as expected. They dug in their heels and waved their arms a bunch over "security", and then passed on an investigation on the obviously illegal spying by the White House.

"Personally, far fewer Americans consider Bush likable, honest, strong and dependable than they did just after his re-election campaign."
I cant believe that Americans ever "consider Bush likable, honest, strong and dependable"----This has to be the joke of the century.
1-"likable"--He is the most arrogant sob that has ever sit in the Oval Office.
2-"honest"--Again, Bush has won the trophy for "lying", he has even topped Nixon.
3-"strong"--When you see he reading to the school children in Florida when he received the news that we were being attacked on 9/11, you can see how strong this "weak knee" bastard is.
4-"dependable"--Ask the people in New Orleans how dependable Mr. Bush is.

What is interesting is the quote by Terry Nelson in this article. The current administration is focused on creating plans that will keep them in power, rather than ones that benefit the entire country. It is treason to work against and sell out the people of the United States.

What is stunning to me is that 43% STILL think Bush is doing a good job with foreign policy. I still find people staunchly defending him. Are people really this stupid? I mean, what does it take to break these idol worshippers? Must we find a video of Bush in a bed with a Muslim man? Must he murder his kids? What does it take to change the mind of an idiot? I'm really stuck on this one. His record is so bad, if this were fiction, nobody would believe it. Maybe that's the problem. Some worshippers seem unable to process the facts. The "education President" has a following of people who are as dumb as he is.

This is nothing more than a diversionary tactic in an election season so that Republipukes can tell their constituents that they stood up against port security breaching, this is being done to give the appearance that the pukes are distancing themselves from the leader of the pukes. What is interesting about this entire thing is the bill for more war dollars is being acted upon, the patriot act has been signed, social security, healthcare, vet benefits, and a host of other social programs are being eliminated and funding reduced while congress address one fumble after another and lose focus of the behind the scene deals and bills that get approve. A case of the blind leading the blind is what we have. I still ask the question, where is the $100 million or billion that UAE gave this administration for Katrina? Where did that money go and why is this bumbling idiot going to New Orleans and announcing he will lobby congress for money? If this sissy crossdressing drunk of a president was serious he would have committed to our citizens of this disaster long before now and not made this a political opportunity, but i guess this was a Rove idea to do it this way. I mean man, what a sorry bitch we have at 1600, and why is the investigation into Plame so slow to reveal who exactly who allowed "Scootie boy" to reveal Ms. Plame? I guess it is just one of the many slow downs to the show down to take place after the elections are over. And another thing, if we can satellite voting in Iraq, why cant we do it for Katrina displaces brothers and sisters. The state of Louisiana does not have this sort of resource so why is the government not offering this assistance? Oh, I almost forgot, "State Independence!" Yea, right, you can spy on all of us, the Pentagon admits mistakes on their terror list that include peaceful demonstrators, but you cannot help our citizens to vote because of State's rights and independence. Oh, and I dont expect this administration to remove anyone from the terror list, hell they still have Martin and Corretta on it, Elvis and Ray Charles is on it, but why didnt the put J. Edgar on it? And just so we are clear, sissy crossdresser means the emperor has lost his clothing and Rove, Cheney, and Rumpbitch allow this sissy to dress in a suit and tie to make public announcements, but he must return to get it up the ass from them after. Hey, way to go dick Cheney, you really do not have to listen to your boss when you shoot someone, who the hell cares if bushit tells you to give a statement, no one else in America and the world is listening to him, so why should you!

Over several Presidents now, I've been thinking that we definitely need to amend the amount of time that a President (any President) should be allowed to be in office.
I think that ONE term of five years...or perhaps six years...should be the limit.
No nightmare should ever be perpetuated beyond waking up and seeing the light.

WELL, IMHO the time for talking is done and the time for action is upon each and every one of us if we can manage to stop talking.
Yeah, the "PORTS DEAL" is diffused...that is until we find out down the road that OH PERHAPS the Carlyle Group or KBR or Halliburton will be the US COMPANY that it is leased to. What a joke.
It will be "outsourced" but to whom. Oh !! we have a plan you say, but no takers we can talk about at this moment ? I'm shocked.!!
Katrina, and three southern states still a mess and Chertoff still in chagrge. There's another disaster. Still a lot of wood and trash and trees everywhere along the coast. Three months to hurricane season when the wind can pick it all up and blow it out to sea...or into new structures still standing or new ones. Is that the PLAN ?
Chertoff serves at the (his words) the pleasure of the President. God help us. !! When you see the two together you see dumb and dumber, not ever sure which is which on any given day
Rumsfeld when asked by Senator Byrd of Civil war broke out in Iraq, was there a plan. Rumsfeld swallowed hard, stared clueless into the camera for 8 seconds then said, Well the plan is to prevent that from happening and IF in the case it did then they would leave it to the IRAQI forces to handle (and here's the important part) TO THE EXTENT THEY ARE ABLE. What the hell does that mean? That's not a plan, that's a rather stupid statement IMO from a clueless SECDEF:
...and the Congress committee didn't challenge that statement and non answer. Hey, any old port in the storm.
We hear rumors that Cheney might "retire" in 2007.
IMO that is called a "feeler" to take the pulse and reaction of the people which was a big YAWN...oh, and the heat off should BOTH houses of Congress be lost. Beats the hell out of an INDICTMENT doesn't it.
However when all is said and done, we got what we wished for never ever dreaming that these thugs were on a mission to take over the world. They are, many now know it, more each day and STILL the vast majority go YAWN.
Posted by TRUTH 101 at March 10, 2006 10:47 AM
Will the republipukes disclose the owners and shareholders of this "outsourcing" as they call it? NO! Why,because these pukes have got the inside track on who it will be,and they are too busy putting their collective monies into insuring that their wallets get fatter than they are,and besides, someone might link it to inside trading,or god forbid, racketeering.ANY ELECTED OFFICIAL THAT HOLDS PUBLIC OFFICE SHOULD BE HELD TO THE HIGHEST ACCOUNTABILITY FOR BETRAYING THE PUBLIC TRUST,INCLUDING,BUT NOT LIMITED TO,BEING CHARGED WITH HIGH TREASON.But what do I know,I am just an average citizen that has only an illusion of rights, that lives in a country that those in power want to turn into a caste society.Looks like the French Revolution all over again.

I love you guys but you need to read Tom Wolfe's
novel "What's the matter with Kansas". Evangilcal Christians do not care how things are going. The end of times is near and George Bush is leading them to the promised land. These people answer to a "higher" power. This is just the start of big happenings. You must get ready. There is still Iran to bomb this fall, just before the elections.

TRUTH 101-
You nailed it. The "shell game" will be an American Company that will have the UAE behind it. I heard* the Hillary and Trent Loft were on TV, saying a tight law needs to be written immediately to keep the UAE out of our ports on all levels.
You know when Clinton and Loft agree on something, something is seriously wrong.

What is to say there will be fair elections this year? How are we going to know if the voting machines are going to accurately record the votes and not be tampered with? Will people wake up when only republicans can win elections?
How come the government is buying up ammunition?

Hubby and I came from 3 generations of lifelong republicans. My spouses's father was a township trustee in Ohio -- whose road got snow plowed last not first.
Neither of us will ever vote Republican again under any circumstances not so much as voting a Republican in as a dog catcher.
The party in its sellout to globalism has and remains actively eradicating our US Constitution and taking us out from under constitutional government replacing our former government with one very closely modelled on that of Nazi Germany in its runup to the 2nd world war.
History is no longer taught. Our children are no longer taught that any nation that seeks to become a global dictatorship has turned cancerous to itself and the world.
Fie on this one world government. It's the equivalent of putting Gambia in charge of snow plowing in Cleveland and results are guaranteed to be a debacle. The only ones who benefit from America's being removed from under the US Constitution and turned into a dictatorship are a few elites who are todays robber barons out to control the world and all in it. They care not what they trash or how many millions die in their quest for personal gain. All that matters to these folk is total global control of the world and everyone in it.

The Middle class is suddenly awakening to the deceit from Left/Right Intellectual minority that has no allegiance to the Nation State, they are the power behind the throne that feeds all the divisive political debates. It will not matter what party dominates, its the arrogant Intelligentsia that we need to worry about. Its goal to to propagate the multinationals'propaganda that supports their "research/studies" and tenure positions. They regard the Middle class as "uneducated and stupid" and believe that it can manipulate it at will. they led us into the war, globalization et al. That's a real enemy not the puppet politicians.
Thank God for this blog that exposes its deceitand hypocricy.

A Veteran’s Letter to the President
“I Return Enclosed the Symbols of My Years of Service”
Joseph DuRocher
Joseph DuRocher was for 20 years the elected Public Defender of Florida’s
Ninth Judicial Circuit, covering Orange and Osceola counties. Since retirement,
he’s been writing and teaching law at the University of Central Florida and the
Barry University School of Law. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S.
Navy in the 1960s, serving as a Naval Aviator in the Atlantic, the Caribbean and
the Mediterranean. On Monday, Mr. DuRocher returned his Lieutenant’s shoulder
bars and Navy wings to President Bush, and enclosed the following letter.
President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear Mr. President:
As a young man I was honored to serve our nation as a commissioned officer
and helicopter pilot in the U. S. Navy. Before me in WWII, my father defended
the country spending two years in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Hornet (CV-14).
We were patriots sworn "to protect and defend". Today I conclude that you have
dishonored our service and the Constitution and principles of our oath. My
dad was buried with full military honors so I cannot act for him. But for
myself, I return enclosed the symbols of my years of service: the shoulder boards of
my rank and my Naval Aviator’s wings.
Until your administration, I believed it was inconceivable that the United
States would ever initiate an aggressive and preemptive war against a country
that posed no threat to us. Until your administration, I thought it was
impossible for our nation to take hundreds of persons into custody without provable
charges of any kind, and to "disappear" them into holes like Gitmo, Abu Ghraib
and Bagram. Until your administration, in my wildest legal fantasy I could not
imagine a U.S. Attorney General seeking to justify torture or a President
first stating his intent to veto an anti-torture law, and then adding a "signing
statement" that he intends to ignore such law as he sees fit. I do not want
these things done in my name.
As a citizen, a patriot, a parent and grandparent, a lawyer and law teacher I
am left with such a feeling of loss and helplessness. I think of myself as a
good American and I ask myself what can I do when I see the face of evil?
Illegal and immoral war, torture and confinement for life without trial have never
been part of our Constitutional tradition. But my vote has become meaningless
because I live in a safe district drawn by your political party. My
congressman is unresponsive to my concerns because his time is filled with lobbyists’
largess. Protests are limited to your "free speech zones", out of sight of the
parade. Even speaking openly is to risk being labeled un-American,
pro-terrorist or anti-troops. And I am a disciplined pacifist, so any violent act is out
of the question.
Nevertheless, to remain silent is to let you think I approve or support your
actions. I do not. So, I am saddened to give up my wings and bars. They were
hard won and my parents and wife were as proud as I was when I earned them over
forty years ago. But I hate the torture and death you have caused more than I
value their symbolism. Giving them up makes me cry for my beloved country.
Joseph W. DuRocher

Karl Rove is evil incarnate.

Somebody is listening to the poll results: I am seeing political ads for congressional races in Sourhern California. One republican's ad claims that the current administration has betrayed the Reagan legacy, and that candidate says he will be a true Reagan-style conservative. (Whatever that means!)
A democrat's ad says the entire system is dysfunctional, and she says she will fight to end all lobbyist gifts and corporate contributions. Her motto is: "Don't tinker with the system, just shut it down."

Emperor Bu$h could care less what the public thinks or feels. He's only interested in the elite $$ crowd and the religious wingnuts. His stubborn stand on the Ports issue shows just how deluded and arrogant he is. He doesn't have to get re-elected so what does he care?
Posted by glenn at March 10, 2006 07:00 PM
Better watch out, the last time Bush's numbers were so low, we got the new Pearl Harbor Republicans wanted. And there are a lot of us who believe that Bush ordered it and his Saudi puppet masters delivered.
Posted by Tom Love at March 10, 2006 07:13 PM
My question is why did the republicans take some one Who's father got him into the guards, then he went AWOL, has 3 failed businesses under his belt, a know substance abuse problem and delusions and run him for president. Why do they hate us so much that they allowed him to steal the election? May the all go to hell. I hope the republicans loss by a landside. I just want to get out of the twilight zone.

It seems to me there is only one way to put our country back where it belongs. We have to get rid of bushbots in order to show the world that we, the people of this country, are not one of them. We have to, as best we can, correct the wrongs that have been committed and restore our reputation. We have to retreat into our own world to try to repair the damage done there, including rescinding institutionalized torture and assisting the homeless. We have to reform the way business is done in Washington. We need a leader who will help us do those things so we need to find that leader and support him/her. We need to transcent party lines so we can work together toward a future we all want and need. Let it happen!
Posted by Darlene Poffel at March 10, 2006 10:46 PM
GLENN;
ABSOLUTLY CORRECT:
Bush CANNOT be elected again and therefore cares about NOTHING except as you so aptly put the $$$$$ elite and the religious wingnuts. Tell you something else IMO
This whole religious thing on GWB is a sham and a show for the support he wants...nothing more
I do not for a minute believe that ALL REPUBLICANS are bad or evil or anything else as some think. I think what wer have seen in the party lately are two things. We see the likes of a FRIST who WANTS to run and be elected to something (like President) (by the way who IMO doesn't have a chance in hell)so breaks away as he feels he must to achieve HIS OWN AGENDA and not that of the people.
Then you have a Lindsay Graham who is an independent thinker albiet a true Republican in every sense of the word. There are several others of BOTH categorie
Not to be outdone, sorry but some Democrats are no better.
You have a Kerry who wants to tell everyone he meets what THEY want to hear. That hurt him in his bid for the Presidency big enough so that the Ohio Diebold fiasco managed to make it look good and not at all as hard.
There was a poster who mentioned that there was Iran to bomb in the fall. Bush is already started to talk the diplomatic solution talk just like IRAQ before !going in".
Hard and as unimaginable as it seems, this would be the PERFECT excuse NOT to have an election in 2008 wouldn't it?
UNIMMAGINABLE? YOu BET
BEYOND THESE PEOPLE NOW IN CHARGE?
NOT FOR A MINUTE

Judging soley on their actions, the administration is clearly trying to start a major conflict in the middle east that will require using nukes. They intend to inflame the entire world. Everything they've done has exacerbated the situation. Offending allies, violating the Geneva Convention, torture-murder, elective war, ruining the Nuclear Accord.. and on, and on...
At home they are clearly trying to destroy America. Their ideology of global free trade at any cost, the destruction of the military, "losing" $9 billion in Iraq!, the squandering of our economic resources at every turn, the unbelieveable corruption and fealty to the rich and corporations, the intentional cruelty to citizens in New Orleans, the lies, the blatant violations of the Constitution, turning our intelligence agencies against us, threatening intelligence agents that out of patriotism want to expose abuses (whistleblowers),... and on, and on...
If this isn't some kind of Jim Jones religious cult, the only other explanation is that they truly want to destroy our democracy and create some horrid tyranny.
These mentally twisted idelogues are so full of hate for our current system, they are spiting us at every turn. Our Constitution and democratic government IS America. The belief in government of, for, and by We The People... is what defines America.. NOT religion, economic theory, or geography. When Grover Nordquist states that he wants to shrink the government down small enough to drown in the bathtub. He exposes his treasonous intention. Plotting to destroy this government, is plotting to destroy America, and everything the Founders and generations of patriots have sacrificed for.
These are not conservatives, these people are something dangerous and destructive. Thomas Jefferson would no doubt advocate hanging them all at the tree of Liberty.

Evidentially that white-haired old lady has also sold out to the devil but if you think about it any group who is rabid about self absorption with their own interests has lost its way and is no longer following Christ's footsteps. We all plead with those in Washington etc. to remember they do work for us, the next bombardment on the capital is likely to be the people marching, already I have heard that the folks who saved the capitol from Ben Ladins planes did us a great disservice.
