Time to dissolve, rebuild FEMA

February 19, 2006 11:17 AM / FUBAR .

The Federal Emergency Management Agency should be dissolved and rebuilt before the upcoming hurricane season, a Democratic senator said Sunday.

"FEMA has become, to many people in America, and particularly the Gulf Coast, a joke, a four-letter word," said Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., and a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

He favored keeping the agency within the Homeland Security Department. FEMA was independent before it was folded into Homeland Security when the department was created after the Sept. 11 attacks.

"It's time for FEMA to go and to build something better, stronger within DHS to take its place," Lieberman said.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, in appearances on Sunday morning talk shows, warned against overhauling FEMA with hurricane season only three months away.

"Nature doesn't wait for us to do yet another reorganization," Chertoff told NBC's Meet the Press.

Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, said he favored making FEMA a Cabinet department.

Davis said FEMA should not be competing for dollars within a department concerned with prevention as well as response, said Davis, who appeared with Lieberman on ABC's "This Week."

Chertoff said that is FEMA were taken out of his department, "I predict with virtual certainty that we will be much less prepared in this hurricane season than if we keep the department together and finish the job on integrating."

Chertoff as well as FEMA and the Homeland Security Department were roundly criticized by a House report issued last week on the government response to Hurricane Katrina last summer.

I HATE TO ADMIT THIS, BUT I HAVE TO AGREE WITH REP. DAVIS! (PLEASE DON'T TELL MY KIDS I SIDED WITH A REPUBLICAN THIS ONE TIME!

The way the news explains it, F.E.M.A. is looking to expand their agency with 15,000 additional employees. Do you know what this depicts? It depicts, an incompetent government foolishly believing, additional employees will alleviate or resolve, the many problems that thousands of other F.E.M.A. employees continue to create. Also, enlarging the government at the tax payer expense is a good investment to their eyes. More BB everywhere, . . . Oh dear, what is one to do?

The American government just becomes a larger fraud machine everyday!

In the later years after former President Reagan, the government changed the name and purpose of F.E.M.A. to suit THEIR needs, not the public's needs.

FEMA has multiple responsibilities and storm recovery is not among the the main respnsibilities.

The "reinvention" called Homeland Security "reinvented" FEMA during a time the USA annihilated a sovereign nation where no WMD's were found. And the media said, "We like Mickey." Where were the Congressmen? Where were the Senators? Where was business that used to be here 25 years ago (in China)? Mommy doesn’t know who daddy is? Is everybody equal yet? When our nation was #1, citizens prided honesty over political agenda.

Dave---FEMA may have many responsibilities, but that doesn't mean they carefully or responsibly live up to act accordingly to any of them!

There is NOT ONE agency within the American government that is properly functional. It can’t be. For it is a deceiving device against “HUMANITY." “Anything" that attempts to come up and go against the natural form of "LIFE BEING," will eventually be totally destroyed!

The American government is like a force of people, who have invaded upon wild life, . . . eventually the natural existence will first defend, and then attack to remove the invaders.

Anything, including a government of people that initiates power over mankind and nature, will be taken out by its prey. It is considered being, a "Natural Cycle of Defense."
