Questions about project Able Danger

February 15, 2006 01:42 AM / Capitol Hillbillies .

Pre-Sept. 11 intelligence conducted by a secret military unit identified terrorist ringleader Mohamed Atta 13 different times, a congressman said Tuesday.

During a Capitol Hill news conference, Rep. Curt Weldon, R-Pa., said the unit _ code-named "Able Danger" _ also identified "a problem" in Yemen two weeks before the attack on the USS Cole. It knew the problem was tied into the port of Aden and involved a U.S. platform, but the ship commander was not made aware of it, Weldon said.

The suicide bombing of the Cole killed 17 sailors on Oct. 12, 2000.

If anyone had told the Cole's commander that there was any indication of a problem in Aden, "he would not have gone there," Weldon told reporters. "He had no clue."

Weldon would not say who provided evidence of such intelligence to him.

Since August, Weldon, vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, has pushed Congress and the Pentagon to investigate the workings of Able Danger, which used data mining to identify links that might indicate the workings of terrorists. If he is correct, it would change the timeline for when government officials first became aware of Atta's links to al-Qaida.

Former members of the Sept. 11 commission have dismissed Weldon's findings.

Cmdr. Greg Hicks, a Pentagon spokesman, released a statement saying that Pentagon officials welcome the opportunity to address these issues during a hearing scheduled Wednesday before a subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee.

...and where might one get a transcript?

Will there be any MEDIA, (not that in this day and age it will make any difference) be allowed at this briefing. Will it be reported independently or will a press release do.

INTERESTING

Audio of the hearing today should be available here:

C-SPAN will probably have some type of coverage. The whistleblower hearing was covered:

Why would the Army help the Navy, anyhow?

Does anyone seriously think that this administration or any other administration would not allow another attack?

Another attack will allow this government to declare martial law and forget about the 2008 vote. Rep & Dem won't be able to steal or manufacture votes because there won't be any.

Again I say, follow the money. What about the SEC report on the individuals and companies that made a "killing" on 911.

Remember Condi's testimony to the 911 committee, I quote; "We knew there were Al-Kyda cells in the United States but didn't think there was anything we needed to do about that." If we were to see all the PDB's (Presidential Daily Briefings) from Jan 2001 to Sept 10, 2001 we will find that this administration was repeatedly warned about an imminent attack on our soil.

The Twin Towers came down to neatly for it to have been the fault of being hit by jets or jet fuel.

Impeachment NOW is our only recourse; unless Bushie goes hunting with Dickie.

Bush will use any pretext to declare martial law. Towers were felled by demolition. Corrupt, incompetent, cronies are heading major agencies. What further damage will this bastard do in the next three years. Arrogantly, stuck in Social Security provision in the federal budget. Cuts entitlement programs as Food Stamps and Pell Grants in favor of tax cuts for the wealthy. Is absolutely killing the environment by pollution, strip mining, and lessening standards for air and water. Bush is a corporate-loving pig who will be the downfall of civil liberties and America itself
