Incredible. Just incredible

February 22, 2006 06:15 AM / Capitol Hillbillies .

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

After a spate of corruption scandals snared several House Republicans, the party declared its sincere intention to reform politics as usual on Capitol Hill. That they could make such declarations with a straight face is remarkable.

In the days since they have made abundantly clear that they like politics as usual just fine. They picked a politician with strong ties to lobbyists _ he even rents his apartment from one _ as majority leader.

Now Rep. Tom DeLay, the indicted lawmaker whom Rep. John Boehner of Ohio replaces, has been rewarded as well by supportive colleagues with coveted legislative positions. DeLay will wield considerable power in the House again from a seat on the Appropriations Committee while he awaits trial in Texas on charges of illegally laundering corporate campaign donations.

Ironically, DeLay fills a committee vacancy left by Randy "Duke" Cunningham of California, who resigned from Congress after pleading guilty to accepting $2.4 million in bribes for government business and other favors.

And so it goes.

Even richer than rejoining the powerful appropriations panel is DeLay's appointment to a subcommittee overseeing the Justice Department, which is examining the influence-peddling scandal involving ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff and a group of obliging politicians that includes DeLay.

The disgraced lobbyist was a close pal of the Texas Republican. An added bonus to DeLay's subcommittee seat will be overseeing NASA, a choice subject for the former majority leader since the Johnson Space Center is in his Houston-area district.

"Allowing Tom DeLay to sit on a committee in charge of giving out money is like putting Michael Brown back in charge of FEMA," said Bill Burton of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Republicans in Congress just can't seem to resist standing by their man."

Just like old times.

No it is not remarkable as much as it is just 'par for the course.'

We wonder how much $$ is being paid to each person, member of politics or not, who says, "Yes mam, and Yes sir, to every request given?

The only unknown question remaining is, . . . In what position is the $$ given and received?

All America needs now are the colorful balloons. America already has the clowns and the magic tricks!

When all is said and done, . . . Those who are deceiving themselves in their fantasy world, will have the biggest wake up call of them all!

And then the next unknown question will be, . . . Who has the popcorn and ale?

For it is going to be some show case to see!

Perhaps man is too weak to correct the wrong they have created, . . . but God isn't!

Cheney is a drunk, who shot some one, while drunk.

First, Cheney said he had a beer at lunch, then the political spin-meisters say it was a Dr. Pepper not a beer...

As a law enforcement professional, the first thing we do is sniff their breath.

They all say it was just one beer.

And to make matters worse...

How convenient-- the VP was unavailable to any law enforcement--till 18 hours after the shooting.

No 'bad breath' then.

My friends consider me a conservative.

I consider Dick Cheney a drunk --and utterly unfit to hold office...

We agree with you GB.

For some unknown reason, those who agree with others who discern the truth of a matter, are profiled as critics.

For the record, people with a voice of opposition are not critics, they are merely opposing the view of another.

With this being said and noted, those who oppose VP Cheney's handling in the shooting incident, has the common sense to know, the VP has utterly disgraced not only himself and Whittington, but each and every partaker of the united stance we dwell in.

The leading commanders of any country are the speakers to the telling of the future. And as the opened eyes can see, America's youngsters are missing out on a great "opportunity" of having a sound mentor ship.

Young minds depend upon the elders to set forth a narrow path to good conscience. President Bush has always given promise of the statement that "opportunity" is given to everyone. This not being the true case in each instance, has given the belief that the Prez himself has defrauded the young, even before they have the "opportunity" of graduating from kindergarten.

President Bush and VP Cheney have both stolen "opportunity" from public meaning. They have kidnaped to privatize "opportunity" for self-serving purposes.

In the presence of the large scale of issues to contend within America, one would think those in charge would place some effort into not only securing property lines and ports, but also, bordering poor judgment around what it deserves. NOTHING!

President Bush and VP Cheney have taken the "opportunity" to 'Bush wack' the public once again with false hope and false belief!

And so, America’s Story goes on for another chapter, leading into the face of infidelity!

And if you look at a map of the 22nd District, you'll see the reason NASA's part of his purview now is because of the incredible Gerrymandering he did. I live across NASA Rd 1 from NASA myself. We're a looong way from Sugarland, as the Gerrymander flies. But I can bask in the knoweledge that for the first time, I can proudly vote against the SOB.
